Re: Archiving MM_MATNR - dependent objects

You can run archiving of MM_MATNR in test mode if you want to know which materials can be archived. It is an option, just depends how much data you have in your system. I am doing archiving as small side activity, no time to spend many hours or days, otherwise I would be in close contact with SAP, because it takes about 5 minutes run time for 1 material in average in my environment. We hope to get a bigger archiving project, to have as well  the time to get the performance issues settled.

You have test run options for all of them, test runs will not archive anything, hence they will not create inconsistencies, but they will as well not show if you get inconsistent processes after the archiving has run productive.

See, the network graphic is an indication by SAP to show you the sequence of archiving by object. But this is not a 100% save, as SAP does not know how you designed your processes.

So you have to sit down with your key users and consultant colleagues and have to analyse your processes and how they depend on each other.

For example, the Stock Transfer process with purchase order and outbound delivery is not covered in the network graphic and not covered in the program checks.

Hence it is possible to archive deliveries which have not yet been received in ordering plant.

After archiving of deliveries you cannot receive the goods, since SAP checks the existence of the outbound delivery.

You have to consider all your Z-tables which may depend on other data and have to be included into the network graphic (yes, the network graphic is customizable, and it is the job of the project team to make their archiving design visible this way, even the network graphic does not control any archiving activity)
